Are Rich People Mentally Ill? Seriously.

You often hear expressions about stashing money away for hard times. This may be prudent or instinctive like squirrels saving food for the winter. However, when hoarding resources goes on for an extended period of time by humans, sometimes over generations, one has to wonder if those that engage in this activity have become deranged. Are they impaired mentally? Why would anyone want more of a resource than they could possibly use unless they are somewhat mentally challenged. You can’t take it with you so why try? Maybe rich people just don’t get it because of a mental impairment. Of course there are always rich people who eventually want to give back but in many cases they’ve already done damage by hoarding and are making repairs.
One has to question if excess money leads to a mentally reduced capacity or if the mental condition precedes the acquisition of excess. Cause and effect are always difficult to disentangle. Suffice it to say that there is a close association. If excess wealth results in impaired mental faculties perhaps it would make sense to remove or reduce the source of the aberrant behaviour.

After the collapse of economy in 2008 due to unregulated banks and speculators ravaging the marketplace, the Occupy Wall Street Movement brought into sharp focus the stark income inequality in our society today. The 1% of our Western Population now has the lion's share of the wealth, reaching the disproportionate level that existed just prior to the Great Depression.

It seems apparent to any clear thinking individual, although not to our present governments, that such concentration of resources is a recipe for disaster.

Why would anyone revere the rich? The world is often described as a crazy place and maybe this is why. Too many of us admire or revere rich but mentally challenged individuals. The only thing more sick than people with more personal resources than they could possibly ever use are those that admire or aspire to this.

It is interesting today that the rich comprise 1% of the population. This percentage is the same as the predator/prey relationship in the wild. Just because you can hoard resources doesn’t mean you should. Just because nature works like a jungle where dog-eat dog happens, doesn’t mean human activity has to reflect that reality. It does perhaps if you are sub-human or mentally deficient. It is also estimated that 1% of the population is psychotic.

Are banks and countries such as Switzerland, where hoarding activity can be hidden, abetting mental illness in society?
